Abids police nabs hotel manager for prostitution

May 16: The Abids police on Monday raided a city hotel from where a brothel was being run. Six women were rescued and the hotel manager and three customers were also taken into custody. The accused and the victims will be produced in court on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip off, the Abids police station in-charge, Inspector G. Girish Rao, and his team raided Hotel Park opposite Public Gardens and arrested hotel manager B. Praveen along with the customers, Mohd Ateeq, Asif Ahmed and Majeed. The racket was being run from room numbers 5, 9, 25 and 35 with the six women, some of whom are from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

However, the kingpin and main accused, Madhu, Raju and P. Narasimha Rao are absconding. “Of the six victims, three are from Andhra Pradesh and the rest hail from UP and MP. They might have been lured here with money and trapped. We will send them to rehabilitation homes after producing them in court,” the assistant commissioner of police, Mr P.V.G. Vijay Kumar, said.
