Couple killed, bodies kept under bags

March 27: A couple was found dead in their residence in Bhumpally village of Sadashivanagar mandal on Sunday. The dead were identified as Potharaju Pedda Gangaiah, 60, and his wife Prameela, 55. It is believed that unidentified persons killed the couple and kept their bodies under a pile of paddy bags a fortnight ago.

According to sources, the neighbours noticed foul smell from the house of Pedda Gangaiah, which was locked for last 15 days. Unable to bear the smell, the villagers informed the Sadashivanagar police. Police broke open the doors on Sunday and found the bodies in highly decomposed condition.

Police suspect that assailants might have murdered the couple by strangulating them and gagged the mouths with the cloths. The couple had been living alone in Bhumpally village as they performed marriage to their adopted daughter. Kamareddy deputy superintendent of police Reddy Gangader Rao, circle inspector V. Jaipal Reddy, Sadashivanagar police station house officer N. Vasu visited the spot.
Dog squad, CLUES team and finger prints experts were pressed into service to trace the killers.
Bhumpally villagers said that the killers might have attacked the couple for gold ornaments.
