Jan. 17: Two Tibetan youths were arrested for allegedly raping a 46-year-old German national in Himachal Pradesh, police said on Sunday.

The woman, who was allegedly raped by two men last month, lodged a complaint with police on Friday.

"Two Tibetan youths in the age group of 22-23 were arrested from Dharamsala (in Kangra district) on late Saturday night on charges of raping a German woman for two successive days - December 27 and 28 - during her stay at Bagsunag near McLeodganj," said Mr Omapati Jamwal, assistant superintendent of police (Kangra).

He said the victim was in India for the past 10 months on a tourist visa.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that one youth allegedly took her to an isolated room on December 27 where he and his friend sexually assaulted her for two days.

Police said the accused would be produced in a court later on Sunday. Mr Jamwal said the medical examination of the woman was conducted on Saturday at the Rajendra Prasad Medical College at Tanda, some 45 km from here.

This was the second rape case of a foreigner in Kangra district within six months.

In June last year, an 18-year-old British charity worker, who was on an exchange teaching programme and was staying along with a few other British nationals, was raped by two cab drivers in Palampur town.
