Barwani (MP): A 19-year-old tribal teacher was on Sunday admitted to a hospital here with serious burns, two days after she was held captive and raped allegedly by a former Shiv Sena leader at Kundanagar locality here, the police said.
The victim, a teacher with a Christian missionary school in Jhabua district, had come to her hometown here two days ago, they said.
When she alighted from the bus, former Shiv Sena district president Anil Dubey met her at the bus stand and promised to take her home, but instead took her to a house, the police said.
Dubey held her captive there for two days during which he raped the girl and on Sunday set the girl on fire, the police said.
"Some locals, who spotted the girl at a roadside, rushed her to a nearby hospital with 80 per cent burn injuries," the Kotwali police station Barwani SHO, Mr Vijay Sisodia, said.
The accused, who too sustained injuries on his hand and feet, has been arrested, he said.
The victim used to live with her grandmother after her father's demise in Anandnagar locality in the city and had moved to Jhabua district a year ago, the police said.
Dubey has been booked under relevant sections of IPC and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, they said.
