Mumbai: Hours before he met Mr Bal Thackeray with a request to withdraw his diktat against Australian cricketers playing in IPL, the Union agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, had planned to advise the Shiv Sena chief to counsel the younger generation on national integration.

"He has grown old now. He should sit back and advise the new generation on national integration. I will tell him this when I meet him," Mr Pawar had said in his valedictory address at state-level NCP convention in Aurangabad on Sunday.

He slammed Mr Thackeray for his opposition to Australian and Pakistani players, saying "he says he will not allow Pakistani players to play. will India not play with Pakistan in the Olymics?"

A few hours later, accompanied by the BCCI president, Mr Shashank Manohar, the NCP leader was at `Matoshree', the Thackeray residence in suburban Bandra, for Sena's help in allowing the Austrialians to play in the IPL.

Shiv Sena mouthpiece `Saamana' said that the party patriarch will take a call on the request in 2-3 days but not before the BCCI makes a presentation on the Australians who would participate in IPL.

In his speech, Mr Pawar had recalled his "old friendship" with Mr Thackeray. "We often criticise each other but we also meet."

Come on now BCCI have to seek permission of IPL Games in Mumbai. Union Minister Sharad Pawar had degreded his cabinet post by going to Matushri the residence of Shiv Sena Superemo and requesting him to allow Austrilia. Why he is seeking this concession for Australia alone? He should instead asked him to allow all cricketers to play the game in Mumbai not the just Australian players. Infact Indians were attacked by the Aussies not the Australian players Where as Pakistani people and players haven't attacked any Indian it was the pakistani terrorists who allegedly did Mumbai carnage.
The statement of Pawar defending his meeting with Bal Thackaray that in democracy we should discuss and had negotiations to solve the problems. If thats the case govt and ministers should talk to terrorists, their organisation, Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru, Parveen Togadia and Ashok Singal, Moists and Ulfa leaders, Kashmiris and eventually Pakistani government and their leaders too.
Pawar asking Thackaray to consel the new generation.......... is so ridicoulus. Thackaray is already conseling young generations of Maharastra to hate north Indians and Muslims, inspiring them to attack media offices, movie stars, blocked the screening of movies and adpot voilence methods in support of their demands.
