Mumbai, Feb. 6: Finally, the Shiv Sena has blinked in its tense standoff with Shah Rukh Khan and has said that it will not create trouble for his movie My name is Khan. The surrender comes on the heels of the Congress leader, Mr Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Mumbai when he defied the Sena by travelling on local trains.
Though the Sena chief, Mr Bal Thackeray, bitterly labelled Shah Rukh a “traitor” in his editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamna, he also added in a dejected tone that the Sena will not oppose the release of his film, hinting that the campaign against the superstar was fizzling out.
Mr Thackeray sniped at the actor in his editorial. “A Khan named Shah Rukh tells us to love Pakistan but nobody feels suffocated due to his treachery. Traitors, do whatever you want to do with the blessings of Congress. Sena won’t stop you,” he wrote.
Shah Rukh, who arrived in Mumbai on Saturday, however, stuck to his stance that there was nothing anti-national in his comments on having Pakistani players in IPL. “I have not said anything that is anti-national or anti-Indian,” said the actor, who reached the city after promoting his film in New York, London and Berlin. “I stand by what I said and I would like to say that may be the group has misunderstood me. There is no other reason because I have not said anything I should feel sorry about.”
When asked whether he would go to Mr Thackeray’s home ‘Matoshree’ to explain his position, Shah Rukh said he had gone there often. “If Balasaheb wants me to meet him, I will do that,” said the actor. “But on this matter, I don’t see...there is no reason for going and asking...but if my stand needs to be explained to someone, I have already done it. I don’t think there is an issue on that front.”
He hastened to add that Mr Thackeray was an “elderly gentleman” whose company he enjoyed. The actor deftly sidestepped questions on the issue of “Mumbai for all Indians”. He said, “But I am what I am because of Mumbai.”

Sirs, We hope the hectic media work on MNIK has come to a historic end. The media, the film producers, the distributors, the actors(mainly the one who had claimed his name is Khan), The shivs and the Mumbai government have all claimed success on this epic literary work. But if we think calmly, we could easily discern that the people have wasted the nation's precious time and could claim that "Our names are Indians".
We are sure that we could see the emergence of more such epic and classic events in this century which could make us forget global warming.
Thank God!!!!Finally the Indians have started realizing that these politicians specially Thackrey and party have used the divide and rule policy to rule. I hope this generation of India throws out fanatics like Thackrey and the good 4 nothing sainiks out for good. If the So called Sainiks were so concerned about the Nation why dont they enroll themselves in to the Indian Army and defend the Nation against its True Enemies or is it that they dont want to lose the pleasure of bullying the happless common man who is out to earn a decent living for himself and his family through hard work. These morons are just good at terrorizing helpless human beings.
This is just a publicity stunt for the latest film and you crazy people believe they are fighting for real.
I total do not support Sena , but i have serious objections to the what Mr Shah Rukh khan said . we can't say that our neighbours are good , since on daily basis they threaten us and no one can forget the 26/11. considering the incidents no one in our country can say they are good neighbor's . why is that we always have a soft approach towards them ? why do we need to talk polite on this issues ? why can not the central govt act seriously? why is so much support for Mr khan when he uttered something which is objectionable to entire nation ( majority of them will not agree )?
peace and harmony should be promoted from both sides.
So finally the movie will be released. It looks to be a good movie i saw the trailer on www.yawtv.com
What i don't understand is why these political parties are always after cricketers or movie stars. I think may be they provide them more publicity and limelight.
i think we are giving too much importance to the shiv sena's newspaper. Sena uses famous people for publicity. The best response would be if all indian newspapers decide not to publish anything from Sena's newspaper. The whole world belongs to the the entire mankind, co-exist or perish.
