Muslim leaders did little: Report

New Delhi, Nov. 24: The Muslim leadership did little to counter the latent fear stroke up by the RSS and VHP leadership, observed the Liberhan Commission report. “The failure of Muslim leadership could not by itself be responsible for the events of December 1992 but the sins of omission of the Muslim leadership certainly made by the Sangh Parivar’s task much easier,” it said.

The commission held these organisations and individuals guilty at a tertiary level for their failure to effectively champion the cause of their constituents and of the neutrals and for their failure as an effective democratic Opposition.

They never set up any claim to the disputed structure in any negotiation, the report said.
