Indian law major hires Keith Vaz as consultant

London: Indian law major FoxMandal Little (FML), which opened its office in London in February 2008, has hired prominent Indian-origin Labour MP, Mr Keith Vaz, as a consultant.

Mr Ajit Mishra, partner and head of the company here, said that Mr Vaz brings vast experience of UK-India business relationship, and knows both jurisdictions well.

Mr Mishra said that Mr Vaz's main role would be to promote and support the company in the UK.

A law graduate of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he studied law, Vaz worked as a solicitor for several years, including for Richmond Council, as a senior solicitor for the London Borough of Islington, and as solicitor at Highfields and Belgrave Law Centre in Leicester.

Mr Vaz has been a member of the Privy Council, a body that advises the sovereign comprising senior members of the House of Commons or the House of Lords, since 2007.

Mr Mishra said that FML's London offices practices only Indian law and deals with global companies looking at investing in India.

Fox Mandal was established in 1896 with Mr J.K. Fox and Mr G.C. Mandal joining together to establish one of the first Indo-British partnerships.
