He would be "very foolish" to leak the Liberhan Commission probe into the Babri Masjid demolition and "embarrass" himself, said the home minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, in the Rajya Sabha on Monday as an angry opposition demanded an explanation as to how the report had found its way to the media before being tabled in parliament.
"I have said what I can say. I must be a very foolish man to leak it and embarrass myself," Chidambaram said in a measured tone after reading out a statement he had earlier made in the Lok Sabha on an Indian Express report Monday on the findings of the commission, which had submitted its report June 30.
"You may please decide what you should do," Chidambaram said, while addressing Rajya Sabha deputy chairman K. Rahman Khan.
"There is only one copy of the report. It is in my custody. No one has spoken to any journalist," the home minister contended, refuting suggestions that the report had been leaked by his ministry.
A report in the Indian Express on Monday said the commission has indicted former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as well as senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi for their role in the Babri Masjid demolition.

What nonsense. The BJP leaders including the opposition leader Mr L.K. Advani was talking in the Lok Sabha. Why does Mr Advani wants the report to be tabled in the Parliment when it is a open secret that he, Mr Joshi, Ms Uma Bharti, Mr Vinay katyar etc were directly involved in the demolition of the Babri Masjid. They are enjoying the outside world for the past 17 years, without getting legal punishment. The other side The paper tiger of Maharashtra Mr. Bal Thackeray is repeatedly shouting that he and his party Shiv Sena are responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid and our democratic government is afraid and helpless in front him!!! Nothing is going to happen in the near future. Only God has to take action on them.
I think all Inquiry Commission reports should be published immediately and without delay after it is ready. The Parliamentarians can read it when it is available for all. I find no reason that why people should be made to wait until the tabling of the report before the parliament.
