New Delhi: The government for the first time on Sunday said that the Maoists are getting arms from China, which is a "big supplier" of small weapons.

"Chinese are big smugglers... suppliers of small arms. I am sure that the Maoists also get them," Home Secretary G.K. Pillai said when asked if the Naxals were having links with China.

The Home Secretary said the government has no information that the Maoists have any links with China except getting arms. "I do not think so, except getting arms," he told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Pillai, however, did not elaborate whether the Maoists were getting arms from Chinese arms smugglers or official agencies.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram had said last month that the Maoists are acquiring weapons through Bangladesh, Myanmar and possibly Nepal.

"We know now that the weapons are coming through Bangladesh and Myanmar and possibly Nepal. The border is very porous. The Indo-Nepal border is a very porous border." he had said.

It was a nice write-up but what I could not get is, is China really supporting Naxals by providing them weapons etc. How can they can help them when Naxals are Adivasis? How are they able to deal with China to purchase weapons? Or are politicians somewhere supporting Naxalism in their greed to rule the chair? What are the steps being taken by our border security forces? How can China supply weapons to Naxals without help of some corrupted officials?

Chineses are big smugglers. We get all imported goods in China /Burma Bazaar. Even private transporters are co-oparating with these people for extra money/easy business. But the local police always ignores it for want of weekly maamuls. I feel if constables stop such bribes it is easy to check naxals in India.

Knowing about all this why are we debating and talking about it or keeping things in secret? Are we so incapable? Or intentionally kept these doorways open for the next generation to take care? What's going on? We call ourselves a big powerful nation, want to compete with the world. We cannot even look at what's happening to us within due to lack or proper work by our administrators.
