Dec 1: With reports suggesting that China was building over two dozen new airstrips along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the government on Tuesday said there was no need to be "unnecessarily" worried as India was adequately strengthening itself.
"I don't think we need to be unnecessarily alarmed. As a regional power, they (China) will strengthen their infrastructure. They will procure their arms and we are doing what we have to do for strengthening our line," said the minister of state for defence, Mr M.M. Pallam Raju.
The minister was asked to respond on reports claiming that China was building 27 airstrips along the LAC.
There is no need to be "unnecessarily worried" about what other countries are doing, Mr Raju said, adding "as far our programmes are going smoothly and we are doing adequately to strengthen ourselves."
On the stopping of work on a link road in Ladakh region after objections by the Chinese Army, the minister said: "I think some of the things happen when there is a difference of perception.I guess that must be the reason."
Work on the road being built under Centrally-sponsored National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), which was to connect two villages in Demchok in South-Eastern Ladakh, was stopped during the last week of October.

Nehru said "Hindi Chini bhai bhai" and look where that got us. Now we have these gutless ministers actually allowing China to do what it pleases. We need to build our defences too along the border. Nothing short of it. India has always been a soft target for foreigners. Time to get strong.
With such politicians running the country and issuing statements justifying intrusion of a neighbour into our country, what do you call them? The pity is we have elected them and now we are paying the price of losing our territory to China. Let alone taking action against China all our actions are to defend China and act as the spokesman of China. A time will come, the Chinese will say when our PM, FM, Defence Minister should use the the toilet, and in what direction. God help the modern day Nehru, Krishna Menon (the Communist) and Gen Kaul who sold themselves and the countries to China. These political worthies are not worried if India is overrun by China, they will be first to escape abroad. Maybe they have secret understanding with China for them to take over India.
