New Delhi, Nov. 8: The 14-day Karnataka crisis ended on Sunday with the Chief Minister, Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa, and the rebel leader, Mr G. Janardhan Reddy, coming together in the presence of senior leaders at the birthday celebrations of the BJP leader, Mr L.K. Advani, at his residence in the Capital.
While the BJP remained mum about the “compromise formula”, sources said the constitution of a Crisis Coordination Committee (CCC), to be headed by the senior leader, Ms Sushma Swaraj, was the key ingredient of a six-point formula, which also included the Chief Minister’s promise to reinstate recently transferred officials from Bellary and to let the CCC decide on the issue of dropping the rural development minister, Ms Shobha Karandlaje.
Ms Swaraj announced the end of the impasse outside her residence in the presence of Mr Yeddyurappa. All senior leaders then drove to Mr Advani’s residence where the CM and the rebel leader held hands in a display of bonhomie.
Asked about the compromise deal, Mr Yeddyurappa said: “No forumla. Nothing.”
