May 31: Agatha Sangma, the youngest minister in the 79-member Union council of ministers of the Manmohan Singh government here on Sunday said that her father and NCP leader P.A. Sangma has nothing personal against AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi.
Ms Sangma who was addressing a press conference on her way to New Delhi told reporters, “This issue against my father has been stretched too long. My father had said that a person of foreign origin should not become the Prime Minister of the country. Now there is no chance of her becoming the PM as Ms Gandhi herself has announced.”
Suggesting that issue of foreign origin does not exist any more, Ms Sangma said, “Now if Mr Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister none of us will have anything against it.”
She asserted, “Let bygones be bygones. My father has nothing personal against Soniaji.” Asserting that she would be giving priority on development of Northeastern states, she admitted that transparency and proper utilisation of the fund may bring in changes in the scenario of the region.
Ms Sangma said that she would be calling the meeting of rural development ministers of Northeastern states to formulate strategy and know their difficulties.
“In fact I personally feel rural development schemes like PMGSY, NREGS and other sanitation scheme should be implemented systematically and with transparency in the Northeastern states,” she said adding that her priority would also be to integrate the youth of this region with main stream so that sense of alienation could be countered.

It is a good augur on the part of the youngest Minister Ms.Sangma. In fact the NCP can get itself merged with Congress since the issue on which it separated from Congress died down and they have been working together even after separation. This removes all the confusion and helps to develop a healthy political system. Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas only can develop the rural India. Another aspect is framing andimplementing community farming, and providing marketing assistance to evey produce will mark a remarkable development in rural India. This reduces financial burden on the Govt. apart from providing the much needed succor to the rural people. This also reduces migration and help to develop a balanced growth all over India.
Agatha should be ashamed of her self. Her only claim to success is that she is P.A.Sangma's daughter. All these inexperience people are getting ministerial positions because of their lineage...what a shame. Democracy has become a joke.
