Lucknow, July 3: The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday gave the green signal for filing of chargesheet in a court against the BJP MP, Mr Varun Gandhi, for making inflammatory speeches in Pilibhit, moving a step closer to his trial in the case.

“The government has given the go-ahead to the district magistrate of Pilibhit to file chargesheet against Mr Varun Gandhi, accused of delivering inflammatory speeches during Lok Sabha polls,” the secretary (home), Mr Mahesh Gupta, said.

The Pilibhit administration had sought permission from the government to file the chargesheet against the BJP MP after receiving the report from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Chandigarh confirming that the CDs containing the inflammatory speeches of Mr Varun Gandhi were not tampered with, sources said.

The state home department had earlier sought advice from the legal department, which favoured the prosecution of Mr Varun Gandhi, they said.

Cases were registered against Mr Varun Gandhi on March 17 at Barkheda police station in Pilibhit on the direction of the Election Commission for delivering inflammatory speeches there on March 8.

We do not understand why there is delay in proceeding legal action against Varun (adding Gandhi to his name is an insult to Indira Gandhi family).Laboratories in Chandigar confirms that the CDS are not tampered, there should not be any delay in Legal action. His membership of Parliament should be cancelled and he should not be allowed to contest for life.
