Edappadi K Palaniswami optimistic of merger of AIADMK factions

Panneerselvam, the leader of the Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction, virtually brought down curtains on the proposed merger last month.

Chennai: With AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran's ultimatum for merger of the two AIADMK factions getting near, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday said he hoped that the AIADMK factions, headed by him and his predecessor O Panneerselvam, would unite.

“I hope that the unification will happen,” Palaniswami told reporters here when asked him if there were efforts going on in this regard.

Panneerselvam, the leader of the Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction, virtually brought down curtains on the proposed merger last month when he announced the disbanding of a seven-member panel, set up to hold unification talks with the AIADMK (Amma) faction led by Palaniswami.
