Telangana Budget is jugglery of figures, says BJP

BJP also warned the government against going ahead with reservations based on religion to Muslims.

Hyderabad: The BJP has accused Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of pushing the state into debt trap in the name of “Bangaru Telangana”. It also warned the government against going ahead with reservations based on religion to Muslims.

“We will continue our protests against religious reservations. We will stop it at any cost,” party MLA G. Kishan Reddy said here on Tuesday. Alleging that TS government behaved in a highhanded manner in the Assembly, he said despite such autocratic behaviour by ruling party, the BJP ensured peaceful and dignified conduct of session.

“The state Budget is jugglery of figures. In the name of Bangaru Telangana, the state is being pushed into a debt trap. The government is running the state with Central funds, huge loans and income from liquor,” Mr Reddy said.

Accusing the government of jacking up irrigation project costs for no reason, he alleged that the ruling party was trying to label the Opposition “anti development” when cornered on irregularities and questionable redesigning of projects.

Referring to the CAG stinker on the government, Mr Reddy said the BJP would write to the President, Governor and CAG to see that CAG reports were placed in the Assembly earlier to ensure a debate instead of the present system of placing them on the last day of the session.

“If the CAG reports are tabled on the last date there is no scope for discussion. This practice has to be stopped,” he demanded. Mr Reddy flayed the government for suspending TD and BJP members from the Assembly and called it “highly undemocratic”.

“It’s surprising that the government is claiming credit for smooth functioning of the Assembly and Council. How can it be without the cooperation of then Opposition? When were raised public issues, the government tried bulldoze us,” he said.
