Will consider nationalising MK's books if DMK asks for it: K Pandiarajan

The AIADMK government will not stand in the way of taking the creative works of Karunanidhi to the next level.

Chennai: The State government will consider nationalising the books of late DMK president and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, if the DMK makes such a request, State Tamil Culture Minister K. Pandiarajan has said.

“The AIADMK government will not stand in the way of taking the creative works of Karunanidhi to the next level. The government will consider nationalising Karunanidhi’s books if a request comes from the DMK,” the Minister told reporters here on Monday.

Asked for his reaction, DMK spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member T. K. S. Elangovan said, “this is only laughable, considering their (AIADMK government) showing scant respect for Kalaignar in denying him his resting place next to Anna (Marina). So, we know what the fate of Kalaignar’s works would meet if they are handed over to the government.”

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Pandiarajan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for hailing Tamil as ‘the most ancient of world languages.’ The state government has planned to spread Tamil on the lines of the Hindi Prachar Sabha (at T. Nagar in the city). “We have plans to establish 26 centres to promote Tamil,” he said sought the support of the people in the venture.
