Lakshmi Prasad sticks to resignation

When Jagan did some good to people, I said so, but renaming the NTR varsity after YSR pained me and I resigned as chairman of APOLC, he said

VIJAYAWADA: Prominent writer and former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad alleged on Tuesday that Chandrababu Naidu did not take an interest in seeking Bharat Ratna for the late NT Rama Rao. Also, he raised the question why Naidu did not give the NTR name to the Gannavaram airport when he ran the Telugu Desam government.

Reacting to the news in the vernacular media against him, accusing him of changing his stand, he said he still stuck to his resignation.

Addressing the media, Prasad said he resigned from the three posts he was holding in the present government and handed over his resignation on the same day he announced his resignation. “The vernacular media said Yarlagadda has changed his voice.” He immediately wrote a letter to them, saying he still adhered to his decision. “I can serve the cause of Telugu language without holding a post.”

Lakshmi Prasad said” “I never uttered a word against Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.”

“When Jagan did some good to the people, I said so, but renaming the NTR varsity after YSR pained me and hence I resigned as chairman of the AP official language commission. There is no going back on the decision.

He refused to say anything on the comments made by Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi.

Lakshmi Prasad said that after AP bifurcation, he proposed the name NTR to the capital city, but suddenly the then TD government announced Amaravati as the capital. He did not like this and felt it was not appropriate as “Amaravati was the capital of Devendra.”
