KCR's inefficiency led to floods in Hyderabad: Shabbir Ali

MLC said that the CM was trying to downplay the tragedy to avoid further criticism.

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader Mohd. Ali Shabbir on Monday said that inefficiency and inexperience of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was to be blamed for the havoc caused due to heavy rains across the state, especially in Hyderabad city.

Addressing the media here, Mr Shabbir Ali ridiculed the CM’s contention that rains did not cause much damage. Asking Mr Rao to tour the affected areas, the MLC said that the CM was trying to downplay the tragedy to avoid further criticism.

Welcoming the decision of the state government to demolish illegal structures constructed on nalas, he expressed doubts over the implementation of this decision.

“So far, at least eight demolition drives were announced, but each time, they were put off for reasons known only to the CM,” Mr Shabbir Ali said. ‘What happened to the illegal constructions in Ayyappa Society?” he asked.

The MLC said that nobody stopped the TRS from demolishing illegal structures during its 27-month old rule. “There are thousands of houses on nalas which the TRS government regularised under GO 58 and 59. Why you did not speak about these 28,000 illegal houses before the GHMC elections,” he asked.
