Denotification: Governor Vajubai Vala's weapon against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: With a fortnight to go for Assembly polls, big trouble could well loom for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, minister for Bengaluru development, K J George, and others in the state government with Governor Vajubai Vala, reportedly seeking specific details about controversial denotification of land in Bengaluru (North) which has been listed by BJP leader B J Puttaswamy in his petition seeking permission for prosecution of the Chief Minister and others.

Official sources said the petition was handed over to Mr Vala by Mr Puttaswamy on December 20, 2017, but the Governor was unhappy with replies provided by the state government. In his petition, Mr Mr Puttaswamy alleged that Mr Siddaramaiah along with Mr George and additional chief secretary (Urban development), Mahendra Jain, denotified over six acres in favour of Ravishankar Shetty, a friend of the Chief Minister.

In the wake of this petition, Mr Vala sought details from the state government but was expressed displeasure about replies provided by the authorities concerned.

Sources said the Governor reportedly marked “not satisfactory” on the file with replies provided by the state government, and sent it to chief secretary K Rathna Prabha seeking specific details concerning denotification of land in Bengaluru (North).
