Tamil Nadu CM, leaders hail IAF strikes in Pakistan

Palaniswami commended the PM for his bold initiative against terrorism.

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, DMK president M.K. Stalin actors Ranikanth and Kamal Hassan and host of other dignitaries have on Tuesday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India’s air strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan.

Mr. Palaniswami commended the PM for his “bold” initiative against terrorism. Mr. Modi was tasting success in rooting out terrorism, which was threatening the entire world, the CM said in a statement here and lauded him on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu. “I extend my greetings to PM Narendra Modi due to whose bold functioning, a successful air strike has been carried out which has demolished terror camps in Pakistan,” Mr Palaniswami said.

India had conducted a major preemptive strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed training camps in Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad terror launch pads across LoC early Tuesday, killing a very large number of terrorists, trainers and senior commanders. The strike comes amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan following the Feb.14 suicide attack by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group in Kashmir’s Pulwama district that killed 40 CRPF soldiers including two from TN.

Mr. Stalin, hailed the Indian Air Force pilots for their valour. “Proud of our #IndianAirForce pilots for their exceptional act of valor!,” he tweeted.

AMMK leader and R.K. Nagar MLA, T.T.V. Dhinakaran, greeted the IAF pilots “for showing Pakistan India’s strength.” “The terrorists have paid the price for the death of our jawans in Pulwama, including two from Tamil Nadu,” he said on Twitter and urged people to stand united as Indians against terrorism.

DMDK founder Vijayakanth appreciated the ‘befitting response’ by India to Pakistan by way of the air strikes. “We extend our greetings and thanks to the IAF, Centre and PM Narendra Modi for IAF's befitting response to Pakistan,” he said in a statement. The attacks would come as a “big relief” to the families of Indian jawans who had lost their lives in such Pak-trained terrorists’ attacks and today’s air strikes have proved that the Indian army was no less to anyone, he added.

Contending that the air strikes showed that only a strong leadership such as the government led by Mr. Modi alone could protect the country, BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said the entire country appreciated the daring efforts of the IAF in ruining the terror camps in PoK.

MNM founder Kamal Haasan welcomed the air strikes carried out by the IAF and ‘saluted’ the valour of the ‘heroes.” “Our 12 (fighter jets) return safely home after wreaking havoc on terrorist camps in Pakistan. India is proud of its heroes. I salute their valour,” he said.

Actor Rajinikanth took to Twitter to express his feelings. "BRAVO INDIA," he tweeted.
