Harmony rally proves RSS tyranny won't be tolerated: CPI(M)

CPI(M) leaders said that \"Harmony Rallyâ€has proved that the tyranny of the Sangh Parivar will not be tolerated.

Mangaluru: CPI(M) leaders have claimed that Saturday’s “Harmony Rally” has proved that the tyranny of the Sangh Parivar will not be tolerated and has made the common man, especially the minorities, confident that there is a power that could fight the Parivar.

Despite a hartal call given by the Sangh Parivar against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit to the city, the rally was attended by over 5,000 people, they said.

“Our region has been experiencing regular incidents of communal tension. Four months ago, our central leaders wanted us to organise a big programme for harmony. We wanted the event to be addressed by a national figure, either Manik Sarkar or Pinarayi Vijayan. Finally, we decided on Mr Vijayan. Despite being a working day, the labour class, who form the base of our party, agreed to hold it on February 25 as it was for communal harmony,” CPI(M) Mangaluru secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal said.

“It was not organised for political gains. Election is not our priority but harmony is. There is a need to send a clear message to communal forces that their tyranny will not be tolerated. This is just the beginning,” he said.

“Though the Congress is opposed to the Sangh Parivar, it has failed to control them. There is nobody to support the people of the region, especially the minorities, who are scared of communal incidents like moral policing and attack on cattle transporters. We wanted to show that we are with them. We want the people to be free of fear from RSS,” he said.
