Let CBI probe Dharwad ZP member's murder: BS Yeddyurappa

The minister also allegedly threatened the advocate representing the victim's family for seeking change of judge.

Bengaluru: Lambasting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for shielding “tainted” ministers K.J. George and Vinay Kulkarni, state BJP president B.S.Yeddyurappa on Saturday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the murder of Dharwad Zilla Panchayat member Yogesh Gouda, on Saturday.

Mr Yeddyurappa told the media here that Mr Vinay Kulkarni was involved in cold-blooded killing of Mr. Yogesh Gouda, and even threatened members of the victim’s family, to stop them from moving the court. The minister also allegedly threatened the advocate representing the victim’s family for seeking change of judge.

Besides, he condemned police officer, Tulujappa, for negotiating with victim’s family at the behest of the minister.”Mr. Tulujappa is presently working as Deputy Superintendent of Police in Belagavi, but why is he going to Dharwad to strike a deal with victim’s family?,” he asked.

The former Chief Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has not given up its fight against Mr. George, but despite the protest by BJP leaders Mr Siddaramaiah had remained unmoved on their demand for resignation of Mr. George.

Once voted to power, his party would take both these cases to the logical end and initiate action against the tainted ministers, Mr Yeddyurappa said adding that his party would continue its stir against these ministers.

Mr. Yeddyurappa criticized energy minister D.K. Shivakumar for his report on energy purchase scam tabled in the Assembly recently.

The former chief minister said that there were no illegalities in power purchase during 2010 and 2013.

The government took the right decision by opting for short term purchase of power from private companies.

A scam, however, occurred during Mr Shivakumar’s tenure as the Union government provided power at Rs 2.5 per unit, but the state government purchased from private companies at Rs. 4.17 from JSW and Rs. 4.71 from UPCL, Mr. Yeddyurappa charged.
