D K Shivakumar clears the air: I’m not after any post

He added that the appointment to posts like leader of the opposition or KPCC president were decided by central leaders.

Bengaluru: Former minister, D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday quipped that he was not after any post. "I am blessed with my own car and bungalow. Why do I need it now?" he reacted sharply while interacting with reporters here, hinting that he was not in the race for the leader of the opposition post, which comes with these perks.

He added that the appointment to posts like leader of the opposition or KPCC president were decided by central leaders. "In our party, these important issues are decided at New Delhi, where our leaders will sit and decide after gathering details on the ongoing political situation. Yardsticks differ from state to state," he said in response to a question.

He said that he was not in a hurry to take up any post and as the party's loyal soldier he would honestly carry out his duties which are assigned to him. "I am a foot soldier not a leader. If anyone is interested in car and bungalow, they can lobby for the post. I don't," he said cryptically.

He also evaded a clear answer on the ongoing slugfest between the Gowda family and Mr Siddaramaiah over the coalition losing power.
