Tamil Nadu to bring out book of sample questions for students

Chennai: Aiming to empower students for achieving good scores in competitive exams like Neet, the Tamil Nadu government will soon come out with a book containing 54,000 questions with answers for state board school students on par with CBSE standards.

The Government will also come out with a DVD of around 30 hours duration to enable students from Tamil Nadu prepare for entrance examinations to get into medical and premier institutes like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

"The government will bring out a book containing 54,000 questions with answers for state board school students to empower them for success in final competitive exams like IIT and Neet. The book will be of CBSE standard. The proposal was discussed with the CM and announcement will soon be made in the Assembly," School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan said.

He was speaking to reporters in Gobichettypalayam after inaugurating 16 drinking water tanks costing Rs 21 lakh.

His statement comes a day after health minister C. Vijayabhaskar announced 85 per cent reservation in medical admission for state board students who had passed Neet.

Vijayabhaskar said a total of 4.2 lakh state board students and 4,675 CBSE students had written Neet, which comes to 95 per cent of state board students and just five per cent of CBSE students. After consulting legal experts, 15 per cent had been allocated for CBSE students and 85 per cent for state board stu-
dents.

The applications for medical courses would be issued on June 26 and counselling would be held on July 17 after the conclusion of the all India counselling.
