KT Rama Rao gets business ministries, Talasani Srinivas Yadav is downgraded
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao took over the commercial taxes ministry from Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav in a reshuffle of portfolios that he effected on Monday.
The Chief Minister also took over Mission Bhagiratha which was part of Mr K.T. Rama Rao’s rural development portfolio. The rest of the ministry has been given to Mr Jupally Krishna Rao.
Mr Rama Rao was given additional charge of industries, which was taken off Mr Krishna Rao, and mines and geology which was previously held by Mr T. Harish Rao.
Sources said the Chief Minister wanted the two portfolios to go together. Mr Rama Rao, who retains municipal administration and IT, also got the commerce, public enterprises and NRI affairs ministries.
Mr Harish Rao now holds irrigation, Legislative Affairs and marketing ministries.Sources close to the Chief Minister told this newspaper that in the recent review meetings with commercial taxes department officials, he seemed to have expressed a keen interest to keep the department with him in order to get more revenue for the government.
He also apparently observed that Hyderabad contributed most revenues for the state and the local minister in-charge might not do full justice due to various pressures from the local business community. Mr Srinivas Yadav has been given the animal husbandry, fisheries and the dairy development .
Jupally given two of KTR’s portfolios
The animal husbandry, fisheries and the dairy development portfolios were handed over to Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav from Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. Mr Srinivas Yadav retains cinematography.
In other changes, the panchayati raj and the rural development portfolios which were held by Mr K.T. Rama Rao, were shifted to Mr Jupally Krishna Rao.
Mission Bhagiratha has been taken out of the rural development portfolio. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao allotted the cooperation ministry to agricultural minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy.
The Chief Minister now holds holds law and order, general administration and information and public affairs departments, apart from Mission Bhagiratha.
