Congress gears up to corner Khattar govt in Assembly session tomorrow

'They made 154 promises to the people of Haryana before the 2014 assembly polls, but failed to fulfill any.'

Chandigarh: With the monsoon session of the Haryana assembly set to begin on Friday, Congress on Wednesday said its plans to corner the government on various fronts including issues related to farmers and law and order.

Congress' Legislature Party leader Kiran Choudhary and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda slammed the Manohar Lal Khattar government for its 'failure' to keep its promises to the people of the state.

"They have done nothing, they made 154 promises to the people before the 2014 assembly polls, but failed to fulfill any. There is complete lack of governance," Choudhary told reporters here.

Besides Choudhary and Hooda, former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma, senior leader Karan Singh Dalal and former Minister Geeta Bhukkal were among the others present.

Choudhary alleged that 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana' was being forced on farmers and money was being deducted from the Kisan credit cards of the peasants even if they were unwilling to take up the scheme.

Hooda claimed that this crop insurance scheme is actually "Kisan Loot Yojna".

Hooda said that farmers were facing lot of hardships, but the BJP Government, both at the Centre and in Haryana is in deep slumber.

Hooda also hit out at the state government over alleged deteriorating law and order situation, citing latest incident which took place in Mewat district today where a couple were done to death by unidentified miscreants while two girls were sexually assaulted.

With state government set to get the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill passed in the monsoon session of the state assembly, Choudhary said "GST was Congress' baby and BJP had only tried to politicise the issue to seek credit."

"If they want GST bill to be passed unanimously, we will first see what their stance on this issue is," she said.

Choudhary said party's Political Affairs Committee will meet here tomorrow before the assembly session begins in the afternoon and further discuss the issue pertaining to the suspension of their legislators.
