Realtors meet housing minister

Some of the major issues discussed include revision in guideline value, single window framework and easy process for approval of layout.

Chennai: Members of builders and real estate associations, Tamil Nadu Housing Board and CMDA approached housing minister, Udumalai Radhakrishnan on Monday to put forth their grievances.

Some of the major issues discussed include revision in guideline value, single window framework and easy process for approval of layout.

Currently there are multiple approval process and a realtor has to get approval from 20 to 40 people depending on the location and size of the plot.

So, they had said that the project invariably takes about 12-18 months to get sanctioned and this delay has a huge impact on all stakeholders involved.

A single window system thus will enable a developer to launch more projects and increase quality supply.

Another issue is the revision of guideline value. The Tamil Nadu government slashed the guideline value by 33 per cent in a move to remove hurdles in property transactions in rural areas.

But, they had said once the land is purchased, the plots that are not sold must also go for the same price. Otherwise they must be provided money by the government for the plots.

“Also, it is difficult to approach the DTCP each time for approval. So, the government must provide a facility in the villages for approval of plots,” realtors had said.

Udumalai Radhakrishnan said he would make arrangements to meet the requirements soon.
