I am neither hurt nor disappointed: Vijayendra

Mr Vijayendra said he was not interested in finding the reasons why he missed the party ticket.

Bengaluru: Not ready to be called a 'sacrificial goat' for missing the BJP ticket for Varuna, Mr B.Y. Vijayendra, son of former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa asserted that he was neither disappointed nor hurt over this.

He told reporters here on Tuesday that earlier, he was to supposed to manage only Varuna Assembly constituency but now, the party had made him the in-charge of over 20 assembly constituencies. "I will not run away from Varuna or Mysuru...I am here to stay and campaign for all candidates of my party. My rented house in Varuna will be utilised for party activities".

Mr Vijayendra said he was not interested in finding the reasons why he missed the party ticket. "I don't want to blame my party’s national leaders nor do I want to question the decision. I am just an ordinary party worker and not anyone more than that. This is only a beginning and I am optimistic of getting opportunities in the coming days. My immediate priority is to campaign for BJP candidates in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts. I am confident that the BJP will get a majority and Mr Yeddyurappa will become the next CM."

He apologised for the untoward incidents in Nanjangud town that resulted in a lathicharge by the police on Monday and the inconvenience caused to people in Mysuru following a Rasta roko staged by his party workers who were upset over the denial of ticket to him. He said he would appeal to all party workers to maintain calm and start working for the victory of BJP candidates by forgetting the incidents of the past.

He denied reports that Mr Yeddyurappa may join hands with other parties to come to power and said his father was committed to principles and the ideology of the saffron party.

No one can question Mr Yeddyurappa's love for the BJP and for this reason, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah were trying to make him the next CM of Karnataka, he added.
