Congress nominates candidates to 21 seats in Pondicherry

Sitting MLAs Theni C Djeacoumar, and PRN Thirmurugan where not given seats for their pro NR Congress stands.

Puducherry: The All India Congress Committee on Saturday announced the names of its candidates for 21 Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Five out of seven sitting MLAs find a place in the list and will contest in the same constituencies.

Former Chief Minister and leader of opposition V Vaithilingam will contest from Kamaraj Nagar constituency and president of Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee A. Namassivayam from Villianur. P Angalan who quit the N R Congress a month back and joined the Congress is the party candidate from Thirubhuvanai constituency.

Other three sitting legislators of the party -- K Lakshmi Narayanan, E Valsaraj, Nalladi Krishna Rao - have been renominated without any change in their constituencies. The party has also fielded a lone woman contestant — V. Vizeaveny in Nettampakakm.

Sivashanmugam(Kadirgamam), V. Aroumugam (Indira Nagar), VP Sivakozhundu (Lawspet), MOHF Shajahan (Kalapet), A. John Kumar (Nellithope), T. Jayamurthy (Ariankuppam), RKR Anantharaman (Manavely), M. Kandasamy(Embalam), N Dhanavelu (Bahour), A Marimuthu (Nedungadu), R Kamalakannan(Thirunallar) and RP Chandra Mohan from Karaikal North.
