State will try to get Aseemanand bail cancelled: Nayani Narasimha Reddy

Mr Owaisi demanded that the TRS government exert pressure on the National Investigation Agency.

Hyderabad: The state government on Friday informed Legislative Assembly that it will initiate steps to get the bail given to the 2007 Macca Masjid bomb blast accused Swami Aseemanand cancelled.

Home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said the government will conduct an inquiry over how he got bail and efforts will be made to get it cancelled.

MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi raised the issue during Zero Hour terming Aseemanand a “Dahshatgard” (terrorist) and saying that terrorists have no religion.

Mr Owaisi said the court of the Fourth Metropolitan Sessions Judge had on Thursday granted bail to Aseemanand and Bharat Mohanlal Rateshwar alias Bharat Bhai, a co-accused in the case.

In his reply, Mr Reddy said, “The question raised by the member is a valid question. An inquiry will be conducted on how he got bail. Efforts will be made to get the bail cancelled. We will ensure justice is done.”

Mr Owaisi demanded that the TRS government exert pressure on the National Investigation Agency, which is probing the case, to ensure that the bail granted to Aseemanand gets cancelled.

“Whether it is Osama Bin Laden or Aseemanand, terrorists should be dealt with sternly. I am hopeful that the government will prevail upon and pressurise the NIA to get the bail to Aseemanand cancelled and he, along with others, is sent back to jail,” Mr Owaisi added.
