PM, Shah never spoke of growth, only levelled charges: K'taka CM Siddaramaiah

Describing the PM as Nalayak' (useless) and shameless for levelling false allegations of corruption against the state government.

Belagavi: Hailing the massive turnout at a rally addressed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said it mirrored the change sweeping the country after the former took over as the party president recently.

Addressing a party rally in Athani today, Mr Siddaramaiah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah never spoke of developmental issues when they addressed rallies in Karnataka but only indulged in levelling baseless allegations against the state government. Describing the Prime Minister as ‘Nalayak’ (useless) and shameless for levelling false allegations of corruption against the state government, Mr Siddaramaiah challenged the PM to show any evidence if he had to prove his charges of corruption by using services of all investigating agencies of the Centre. “If I am describing the PM Nalayak, I am making this allegation seriously and with responsibility. If there's any state government without corruption in the country, then it is only the state government. It's the only corruption-free government in the country,'' he added.

Describing Mr Narendra Modi as a great facilitator for corruption, the Chief Minister said Punjab National Bank could not have suffered huge financial losses nor Nirav Modi could have run away without the support of the PM. When Modi made allegations of corruption on others, he should see who all were sitting on his either sides.

Mr Modi should be shameful to ask people to make B S Yeddyurappa who was jailed when he was CM as CM again. It was unfortunate that he made allegations of corruption against the state government with jail-birds like BSY, Katta Subramanya, Krishnayya Shetty, Janardhan Reddy sitting along with him on the dais, he said.

“Did not you help Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi run away from the country. Let's have a face to face discussion on what Congress government did in the state compared to the previous BJP government. We fulfilled all promises we made prior to elections in the state while you (PM) did not. You did not give jobs to 2 crore youth nor did Rs 15 lakh to people as assured by you. Loans of industrialists were waived by you and not farmers', “he hit back at PM,” Gandhi said.
