Thrissur: Former CPM Thrissur district secretary, A. C. Moideen has won accolades for strengthening the party which did exceptionally well in 2014 Lok Sabha polls by winning Thrissur, Chalakkudy and Alathur seats. He laid a solid base for the party in the district that helped sweep the assembly elections winning 12 of the 13 seats.

He also had led the party to victory in the local body elections. As per the party decision, he resigned as the district secretary to take on Planning Commission member and CMP leader C. P. John in Kunnamkulam and won handsomely. Moideen, who has completed SSLC, is known for his exceptional organisational skills.

He came to parliamentary politics as a giant killer in 2004 by-elections wresting the UDF stronghold of Wadakkanchery defeating the then power minister K. Muraleedharan. Son of the late Chiyamavu and Fathima Beevi of Wadakkanchery, Moideen began his political career as an SFI activist. He became a party member in 1977.
