MIM looting Muslims, alleges Kishan Reddy

Kishan said BJP sees MIM as a political party which inherited the ideology of Razakars

HYDERABAD: Union minister for state G. Kishan Reddy said that the AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi was a family-run party and has no relation with Muslims.

Addressing a Meet-the-Press event organised by Hyderabad Press Club here on Sunday, he appealed to the people of Hyderabad to question the TRS leaders why they will vote for the party in the ensuing GHMC elections.

Seeking votes for BJP to ensure overall development, Kishan Reddy charged the MIM with having a history of “harassing” poor Muslims and “grabbing” their assets using mafia. He said, “as far as the Majlis party is concerned, BJP is very clear. There is no relation between the Majlis party and Muslims. They are different from one another.”

He said that BJP sees MIM as a political party which inherited the ideology of Razakars — private militia organised by Qasim Razvi during the rule of Nizam — and supported terror activities by extending financial and legal aid to some of them.

Alleging that the TRS was not fulfilling its poll promises prior to the previous GHMC elections, Kishan Reddy pointed out, “They promised construction of one lakh double bedroom houses but they failed. They promised Hyderabad would be developed as Dallas and Istanbul, but they failed.”

Kishan Reddy challenged TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to show where those one lakh double bedroom houses are. He said that the TRS was misleading people with false figures in its progress report, which shows that it had spent Rs 67, 000 crore for the development of Hyderabad in six years.

The minister claimed that the Metro Rail cost was overrun by Rs 3,500 crore due to delays caused by the K. Chandrashekar Rao government. Works of the Metro Rail began much before Rao came to power, he said.

Kishan Reddy alleged that MIM has stalled the expansion of Metro Rail to the Old City. Blaming the "poor conditions of civic infrastructure" in the city, Reddy said about six lakh houses were inundated and 15 lakh people affected during the heavy rains that lashed the city last month.

Reminding about their challenge of Rs 1,000 cash prize to any one showing a pothole in GHMC limits, he challenged the Chief Minister if he can show a single road in the city without a pothole to get Rs 1 lakh reward.

Kishan Reddy alleged that the families of Chandrashekar Rao and Owaisi had dented Hyderabad’s brand image and made it a ‘Mud City’. He claimed that the Centre has released funds for MMTS Phase 2, but the state government has not released its share and the Centre had also released Rs 224 crore for flood relief from the disaster management fund.

He pointed out that the Centre has recommended Hyderabad city for the Smart City Project, but the state government opted for Karimnagar and Warangal cities.

Responding to a query with regard to alleged remarks against the Chief Minister by BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, he said “I don’t know what exactly he (Bandi) said.”

He said if BJP was voted to power in the GHMC polls, the city would witness overall development and across all areas.
