N Chandrababu Naidu cheating people on Special Status Category: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

The YSRC chief assured to implement the fee reimbursement scheme 100 per cent if his party was elected to power in the next elections.

Eluru: Castigating both the TD and BJP for reneging on their promise to get Special Status Category to the state, YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has given a clarion call to the youth to support the party to fight until the state got such a status as it would help them get jobs and the state to develop.

Addressing a large number of youth at ‘Yuva Bheri’ programme held here on Thursday, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy flayed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for backstabbing his own father-in-law to become the chi-ef minister of the state and now, he was doing the same thing to cheat the people of the state on the Special Category Status (SCS) issue.

He was critical too of Union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was then the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, for touring the state as part of the election campaign and giving an assurance to accord SCS to the state once their party was elected to power.

The YSRC chief presented video clippings of the statements of Mr Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Venkaiah Naidu and Mr Modi before and after elections to show how they changed their tone on the SCS issue. This raised a tumultuous response from the youngsters.

Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy blamed Mr Naidu for failing to mount adequate pressure upon the Centre to get such a status and asked him why he was mortgaging the self-respect of the people of the st-ate. He said since Mr Naidu was involved in cash-for-vote case, he was unwilling to turn against the BJP to avoid trouble.

Later, interacting with the students, the YSRC chief assured to implement the fee reimbursement scheme 100 per cent if his party was elected to power in the next elections. He vowed to bear the expenses of mess charges and others by the government to help the youth pursue their studies and get employment.

Referring to the Centre’s claim that it was not possible to accord such a status to the state, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the Centre why they had fitted this issue into the BJP’s manifesto at the time of the elections if they were not committed to granting it.
