What dissidence? It will die out very soon, says Congress working president Dinesh

Senior leaders are holding talks with the dissidents.

Bengaluru: Newly appointed KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao claimed that the dissidence which has erupted in the party after the Cabinet reshuffle, would die down soon.

“Senior leaders are holding talks with the dissidents. It is quite natural for some Congress leaders to rebel when a Cabinet reshuffle takes place. Within a few days, everything will be sorted out,’’ Mr Rao claimed.

Reacting to actor-politician Mr Ambareesh’s remarks that he was not a chappal to be used and discarded, Mr Rao felt Ambareesh might have used such words in an emotional state. “I know he is an emotional person. I have high regard for him, he has held many portfolios and positions in the state and at the Centre. I am confident he will change his mind and continue in the Congress,” Mr Rao said.

About his new role in the party, Mr Rao candidly admitted that he too was upset initially after being dropped from the cabinet as he was confident of completing the process of eradicating bogus ration cards in the next three months. “I wanted to continue in the ministry for another three months, but party leaders felt otherwise. This is not a small post, I am supposed to act like a bridge between youngsters and old-timers in the party to strengthen the Congress and prepare workers for the next Assembly elections in 2018,” he claimed.
