I am still strong to fight: VS Achuthanandan

The people of the country are facing dangerous challenges from the communal fascist forces.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has said that he had contested this election to discharge his historic responsibility of ensuring the victory of the LDF in its fight against communal forces even as he suggested he is far from suffering from age-related fatigue.

The clarification of the veteran in a Facebook post came a after the party chose its politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan as chief minister. ”Being a communist, I had some historic responsibilities to be discharged in this election,” he said in the post. “Hence I decided to contest the elections as per the instructions of the party central leadership.

The people of the country are facing dangerous challenges from the communal fascist forces. The position of the Left was not safe even at the party strong held areas of West Bengal.....I will continue my struggle against the communal forces till my last breath.”

He accused the Congress-led UDF of supporting communalism for their vested interests. “Even efforts are being made by some businessmen to inject communal poison among Keralites by misusing the name of Sree Narayana Guru,” the post said. “The UDF government is supporting all such forces to take forward its corruption agenda. The victory of Left parties in Kerala was essential to save Kerala from such forces.”

Meanwhile, during an interaction with children here on Sunday, Mr. Achuthanandan said that he was feeling more energetic these days. “I have travelled along the length and breadth of the state for election campaign. Do you people notice fatigue to any part of my body,” Mr. Achuthanandan said in a lighter vein.
