Chennai: PMK founder S Ramadoss on Sunday demanded that the Election Commission disqualify candidates of DMK and AIADMK before holding polls in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur constituencies.
In a statement here, the PMK leader said the Election Commission has admitted publicly that money was distributed in these constituencies and that is the reason for postponement of elections.
“The fact that the Election Commission is holding elections in these constituencies without disqualifying candidates of the ruling party and opposition itself amounts to encouraging corruption,” he said.
The EC should disqualify candidates of DMK and AIADMK for distributing cash and conduct the elections with remaining candidates, he said, and criticised DMK chief M Karunanidhi for twisting the facts regarding postponement of polls in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur.
