Bengaluru: Hugely embarrassing the Congress, its party MLA and chairman of the Karnataka Apex Bank, K N Rajanna on Thursday called it a “party of thieves” which had no room for honesty and integrity.
Addressing a public meeting here, Mr Rajanna charged that his party leaders would target anyone, who was honest and committed to its ideology. Saying he was afraid to openly share his feelings in the past, he added, “As long as Indira Gandhi was alive, people voted for the Congress (without caring who its candidates were). But now things have changed a lot and in my view there are only three leaders capable of winning votes for their respective parties. The first is state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa, who has a hold on his community’s votes, the second is former PM and JD(S) president H Deve Gowda, who’s fighting for farmers’ causes and the third is CM Siddaramaiah, who has come out with a number of populist schemes, which have helped rural children have access to health and education.” This is not the first time that Mr Rajanna has made caustic remarks against his own partymen. In the past he hit out at Law Minister T.B. Jayachandra every time he was sidelined during the Cabinet reshuffle or expansion.
