CHENNAI: DMDK had not attended the all-party meet convened by the opposition DMK on Cauvery issue, because it was held at the DMK party headquarters – Anna Arivalayam, DMDK founder Vijayakanth has said.
Despite invites, his party did not attend the recent all-party meets convened by the main opposition DMK over Cauvery issue. “Why should we attend meetings convened by the DMK? They are being organised in their party headquarters. Such meetings should be convened at a common place,” the actor-turned-politician told reporters here.
He asked, “should we attend the meeting and hail (DMK working president) Stalin? We won’t do it. We know how to protest for people and for the state’s rights. We are firm in our stand that Cauvery Management Board should be formed.” Vijayakanth's DMDK was the main opposition party of Tamil Nadu from 2011-16, till the DMK won the 2016 Assembly elections in good numbers.
