Hyderabad: Stating that Muslims lag behind SCs and STs in all spheres, MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Monday said that the community must be treated on par with SCs and STs in jobs and education and all benefits being provided to the former communities should be extended to them too.
He was speaking in the Legislative Assembly during the debate on Demands for Grants for the welfare of minorties, SCs, STs, BCs etc. He said, “On paper, the government is showing huge funds but spending very little.”
BJP MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar expressed serious concern over the TRS government flouting the SC/ST Sub-Plan Act.
“The government has to spend Rs 13,134 crore for SCs, STs under Sub-Plan from 38 departments. But it spent only Rs 7,314 crore,” he said.
Congress MLA Ch. Vamsi Chand Reddy said the government was cthat heating people in the name of 2BHK housing.
TD MLA R. Krishnaiah said, “Only education can uplift weaker sections but the government is spending only up to 40 per cent of the allocations for them”.
