Varuna: Activists plan zero unemployment

Volunteers to create 20,000 jobs for youth in the next five years.

Mysuru: Vounteers who have taken up a ‘no job, no vote’ campaign in Varuna constituency represented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, are all set to create a zero unemployment model- ‘My Varuna, My future’ on a pilot basis, in the CM's home turf, to help people from his community and to create employment opportunities for over 20,000 youth in the next five years.

Convenor of the ‘Zero Unemployment model’ and ‘No job No vote’ campaign and founder member of the employment mission of government of Odisha, Mr Chandra Mishra said, "There are over 45 lakh people from the Kuruba (shepherd) community in the entire state, they form the second highest number of voters in Varuna. Hence we will facilitate setting up up a composite woolen industry, worth Rs 1200 crore in Varuna which will not just benefit the Kuruba community in the state but also contribute 11 percent to India's total wool production. Besides creating direct jobs for 14,000 people, it will create sustainable secured indirect employment for 10 lakh people.

We plan to make Karnataka a hub for the Marino sheep breed in India which produces premium quality fine sheep fleece known for best quality wool all over the world by training and guiding shepherds on a buy back basis. We are in touch with the Punjab based Knit wear and textile club and a UN affiliated international organization ICARDA (International centre for agricultural research in the dry areas) for technical and professional assistance).

We are prepared to give a written undertaking to face legal action if we fail to provide jobs to 20,000 youth in the next five years" he said.
