Telangana Assembly polls 2018: K Chandrasekhar Rao goes easy on Congress

Telangana CM assured revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector after coming to power.

Hyderabad: Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said that the people of Telangana had already decided that the TRS would win and come back to power a second time and the election was just a formality.

Interestingly, in his 20 minute-speech, he did not hit out at the Congress or for that matter any of the opposition. When he received a slip from party leaders, during his speech to speak about the Congress, he said there was nothing to speak on the Congress. He appeared to stick with what he planned to implement if he came back a second time.

Addressing the massive gathering at the Praja Ashirwada Sabha held at Siddipet on Tuesday, he assured revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector after coming to power.

Maintaining that the remunerative price to farmers for their crops had remained a long pending issue even as the spurious food business was spreading its tentacles across the country, he announced that he would introduce a new public distribution system to benefit farmers, self-help groups, ration dealers and members of Farmers Associations Coordination Committees at one go.

Stating that the state was witnessing a huge growth in crop production which needed to be streamlined to ensure a remunerative price for farmers, the chief minister said “ to achieve this, we need to develop crop colonies. Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University is developing a plan by dividing the entire State into crop colonies. With the help of FACCs, we will promote crop colonies and divide crops between them.” He said the produce would be purchased through the Indira Kranthi Patham Self-Help Groups who will process it at their food processing units and sell their products through ration dealers.
