Is Congress readying for exit?

The main intention is appeal to the Supreme Court to review its order that has insulated rebel MLAs.

BENGALURU: Are Congress leaders readying for an exit of the coalition government on Monday after unsuccessful attempts at coaxing rebel MLAs to return to the Assembly to support the trust vote moved by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy?

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader said the CLP meeting, scheduled for Sunday, will witness a prolonged pep talk to MLAs on their conduct during voting on Monday.

“Everyone knows that the entire thing has gone out of Congress party’s hands. So far, none of the legislators has shown any sign of returning,” the leader lamented.

The leader added that Congress party’s alternative strategy would be to seek Supreme Court’s intervention on its earlier order which was acting as a shield for rebel legislators.

“The main intention is appeal to the Supreme Court to review its order that has insulated rebel MLAs. First, we (Coalition partners) want their presence in the Assembly. Whether they want to sit with us or want to sit separately does not matter. They must come to the House, and this will be the basis of our arguments in the apex court on Monday,” the leader explained.
