Railway zone: YSRC to launch indefinite fast

Amarnath alleged Chandrababu Naidu has thrown ethics to wind and that many TD men were involved in massive corruption.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The YSR Congress leaders would launch a fast unto death from April 14 if the Union government doesn’t accord a separate railway zone for Visakhapatnam, said YSRC district president Gudivada Amarnath.

On Sunday, the YSRC leaders held a constituency-wise meeting at NAD junction in the city and discussed various internal issues of the party. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amarnath alleged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has thrown ethics to wind and that many TD men were involved in massive corruption.

Ex-minister and senior YSRC leader Botsa Satyanarayana attended as the chief guest of the meeting. He said there has been no rise in the number of pension beneficiaries in the State since the Congress’ rule and even charged the TD government with downsizing the number. Ex-MLA and in-charge of Vizag West Constituency M. Vijaya Prasad was present.

“Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been trying to divert the attention of the people through his cheap tactics from his failures. But people are pretty much aware of his tricks. If the government doesn’t announce railway zone, we would launch an indefinite fast from April 14,” Mr. Satyanarayana added.

Ex-MLA and in-charge of Vizag West Constituency, Malla Vijaya Prasad, claimed that he would quit politics if the allegations levelled on him were proved to be true.

“I developed my constituency with about Rs. 30 crore when I was an MLA and I have the right to go to every home in the constituency. The TD men looted crores of rupees in the Hudhud relief works as well as the International Fleet Review Works,” he added.

Koyya Prasad Reddy, Tippala Nagi Reddy, Pasupuleti Ushakiran and others were present.
