Hyderabad: The Congress released a list of 40 star campaigners for the Assembly elections, comprising national and state leaders.
The list names Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, and other national leaders. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress Lok Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge have been slated to campaign in the state.
The Congress has also named film stars Nagma, Khushboo and Vijayashanti along with former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The name of actor and former MP K. Chiranjeevi is missing from the list, confirming that he is keeping away from party affairs as of now. Former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy, who failed to get the ticket from Sanathnagar, which went to the Mahakutami, was also named as a star campaigner by the party.
Tollywood producer Bandla Ganesh, who joined the party recently and expected to grab a ticket, was appointed official spokesperson by the TPCC.
