Counter Operation Lotus? HDK poaching BJP MLAs: BS Yeddyurappa

On Wednesday targeted Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for \"trying to poach his party MLAs\" to save it.

Bengaluru: In an interesting shift state BJP chief, B.S.Yeddyurappa, who has been accused of conducting an "Operation Lotus" to topple the coalition government in the state, on Wednesday targeted Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for "trying to poach his party MLAs" to save it.

Inaugurating a one- day special session of the party here, Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that Mr. Kumaraswamy had approached BJP MLAs with offers of ministerial posts in a "desperate attempt" to save his government.

"But Mr. Kumaraswamy will not succeed in his attempt. He cannot poach our MLAs. When both Congress and JD(S) MLAs have lost faith in his government, no BJP MLA will fall into Mr. Kumaraswamy's trap," he said.

Denying that the BJP had tried to destabilise the coalition government or even approached Congress MLAs, the BJP leader claimed that most Congress
MLAs themselves were against the government. "Only H.D.Revanna, D.K.Shivakumar and Dr. G. Parameshwar want this government. Mr. Kumaraswamy has accused us of destabilising his government with the help of kingpins, but why doesn't he order their arrest and order an investigation?" Mr. Yeddyurappa demanded.

Also accusing JD(S) supremo H.D. Devegowda and his sons of corruption, he claimed they were busy looting the state exchequer. "There is a Tughlaq Darbar in the state. The HDK government is acting like a commission agent with Ministers busy taking 8 to 10 per cent commissions. PWD contractors are being harassed," Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged, adding that although the government had completed four months in office, no developmental work had taken place in the state.

The BJP chief later instructed his party workers, MLAs, MPs and district office bearers to prepare for the Lok Sabha elections with a target of winning over 20 seats. Besides Union Minister, Ramesh Jigajinagi, the meeting was attended by senior party leaders like Govinda Karjol, Jagadish Shettar, K.S.Eshwarappa, C.T. Ravi, Kota Srinivasa Poojari, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, R. Ashok and Aravinda Limbavali.
