Change civic chiefs, demand TD leaders

It is almost three years but the ex-MLA has no intention to replace them, the councillors said.

Vijayawada: TD councillors had a heated argument with former MLA Nallagatla Swamy Das over changing the chairman and vice-chairman of Tiruvur municipality. The councillors even tried to hurl petrol bottles at the ex-MLA saying he will have to face their wrath if he did not allow the removal of the existing chairman and vice chairman and nominating two others in their place for the next two-and-a-half years of the tenure, as per the agreement undergone earlier.

The TD councillors attended the party constituency co-ordination committee meeting held by the former MLA at his residence on Saturday.

The councillors raised the issue of removing the existing chairman Krishna Kumari and vice-chairman S. Narasimha Rao and nominating two other party leaders in their place as they have already completed half of the tenure in chair.

“It is almost three years but the ex MLA has no intention to replace them,” the councillors said.

They said that other councillors were waiting for an opportunity to occupy the position.

Tiruvuru SI K. Suresh said the ruckus came to their notice but that they had not initiated any action as no party leader lodged a complaint with them.
