BJP Union ministers to counter TRS on funds

Party plans monthly visits by top guns to ‘expose’ Telangana.

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has evolved a strategy to counter the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS).

Central ministers and national leaders of the party are to visit Telangana once a month, as part of an effort to convince the people of Telangana that the Central government is committed to the development of their state and is giving more funds to Telangana than the UPA government did, but the TRS government is not pushing the schemes implemented by the Central government.

Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharam visited Hyderabad last Sunday and the Union railway minister Piyush Goyal was in Hyderabad on Tuesday. BJP MLC and Hyderabad unit BJP president N. Ramachandra Rao said that one central minister and one party national leader will visit Hyderabad every month.

Speaking to this newspaper he said that the BJP high command has directed these visits and Union home minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Hyderabad on March 15.

After Ms Sitharaman stated in the Lok Sabha the amount of funds released to Telangana, the war of words started in earnest between the TRS and BJP, with the latter bent on exposing the TRS.

Former BJP MLA N.V.V.S. Prabhakar told this newspaper that other non-BJP ruled states are benefiting from utilising Central government schemes, but the TRS government is ignoring the Central government sch-emes. This deprives the people of Telangana from benefiting from Central government schemes and this is what the BJP will expose by explaining the facts to the people.
