Thiruvananthapuram: CPM politburo which met in Delhi on Friday, rejected the West Bengal state committee’s decision to continue its tie up with the Congress in that state. The politburo observed that the state committee’s decision was against the central committee decision and political tactical line adopted at the Vishakhapatnam Party Congress.
Earlier in its assessment of the Assembly poll results, the politburo had pointed out that the tactics that evolved in Bengal were not in consonance with the CC decision and political tactical line adopted at Vishakhapatnam Congress. The politburo noted that the growth of BJP in Kerala with the help of communal and caste outfits, was disturbing.
It felt that the BJP attempt to create communal divide in the state needed to be countered strongly. However, the politburo acknowledged the need for unity between all democratic forces to fight against TMC Government’s “authoritarian” rule and violence.
Kerala issues didn’t figure prominently at the politburo meeting. With various issues pertaining to state unit of the party still pending before the PB commission, the central leadership wanted the matter to be expedited. The resolution terming Achuthanandan as "anti party" and various allegations raised by the veteran leader against the state leadership are before the PB commission.
The PB commission has to resolve these issues before considering VS entry into the state secretariat. The matter pertaining to veteran leader’s post has also not been resolved yet. The party general secretary is likely to meet Achuthanandan who is in Delhi at the moment, to discuss the issue.
